RECEPTIONIST Employment Type: Full-time Indeterminate Department: Administration Office Hours: 35 hours per week Salary Range: $38,310 - $45,750 (Depending on education and experience) + Pension and Benefits Primary Function: The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for community members, visitors, and staff, providing a welcoming, respectful, and professional environment. This role provides front desk, clerical, and administrative support to ensure effective day-to-day operations within the First Nation administration office. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, managing communications, maintaining office organization, supporting staff, and upholding confidentiality and cultural sensitivity. Key Responsibilities: Greet community members, visitors, and staff in a warm, courteous, and professional manner. Respond to in‑person, phone, and email inquiries; provide general information or refer to appropriate staff. Maintain a tidy, organized, and welcoming reception area. Offer hospitality when appropriate (e.g., beverages for Elders or visitors). Answer multi‑line phone systems; take and distribute accurate messages. Coordinate courier, mail, and fax services; sort and distribute incoming/outgoing correspondence Maintain office filing systems—paper and electronic Maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment, coordinate repairs and restocking. An Office Administration certificate is an asset. Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work respectfully with community members, Elders, leadership, and visitors. Strong organization and time‑management skills. Proficient with computers and office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Ability to maintain confidentiality. Knowledge of First Nation culture, protocols, and community dynamics is a strong asset.
