Recovery Support Specialist, Successful Reentry  Salary: High School or GED - $18.00/hour + every other Friday off paid for wellness Certified Recovery Support Specialist - $23.00/hour + every other Friday off paid for wellness Position Overview:                This position will join the Heritage’s Successful Re-entry Team to provide peer support, engagement, and linkage to various resources. Services will be provided to adults incarcerated at Decatur Correctional Center with serious and persistent mental illness who are scheduled for parole within 6 months of entering the program. with a mental health diagnosis referred by IDHA and IDOC. These positions are full time and work collaboratively with persons-served, community providers, parole and DOC, the Successful Re-entry team, and is based out of our Macon County office.   Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Ability to meet people where they are at in their recovery, non-judgmental, and ability to build rapport quickly 2. Ability to work as a team player 3. Ability to navigate electronic health records 4. Demonstrated above average computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel Core Responsibilities: 1. Utilize the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) modality and peer support to help individuals build independence and transition into the community successfully. 2. Provide individual and group WRAP treatment to incarcerated individuals 6 months prior to release, and 6 months after release. 3. Empower individuals to set recovery goals and take ownership of their recovery through a community that promotes personal growth, person empowerment, responsibility, and greater independence. 4. Advocate and collaborate with participants treatment team to ensure successful re-entry and appropriate support 5. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided. 6. Attend trainings and meetings as required.  7. Educate clients and their families on available community resources and assist with making referrals (e.g. Local food panties, arranging medical transportation for appointments, identifying shelters). May accompany client on case-by-case basis. Minimum Qualifications:  1. A minimum high school diploma or equivalent, at least 21 years of age, and willingness to work with incarcerated individuals who are attempting to recover from a serious and persistent mental illness are required.  2. Lived experience of incarceration in a prison and willing to articulate personal experience related to their own recovery are required.  3. Certification as a Recovery Support Specialist required within 12 months of employment. 4. The ability to work in a healthcare setting with a criminal history, or the ability to apply for a waiver to allow work in healthcare. 5. A valid driver's license, reliable means of transportation, and proof of automobile insurance coverage are required.
Responsibilities
The Recovery Support Specialist provides peer support and resource linkage to incarcerated individuals with mental health diagnoses to facilitate successful community reentry. They utilize the WRAP modality to help clients set recovery goals and maintain accurate documentation of all services provided.
