Job Title: Recovery Support Staff Job Summary: The Recovery Support Staff is responsible for seeing that the daily structure is maintained. They act as the eyes and ears of the community in regards to resident behavior and reports on progress. This includes ensuring that all group and activities schedules are followed. While the Recovery Support Staff supervises the facility and residents in such a way as to ensure safety, observance of rules and security of persons and property, they also represent the program’s hospitality, and the promotion of recovery and the conduct of a home-like environment. Primary Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Monitors and closely supervises all floor and dayroom activities. * Facilitates and/or participates in house meetings. * Communicate all incidents to their supervisor. * Provides feedback to primary counselors/case managers and other treatment staff when necessary. * Collects all medical documents when residents return from their appointments and gives to staff on duty/facility Nurse or, in his/her absence, files cards in I.D. box/book. * Collects all Medical cards when residents return from appointments and gives to staff on duty or, in their absence sees that all follow-up is done; that the primary counselor/facility nurse are updated and that appointments are placed on calendar, etc. * Witnesses and logs the residents’ urine screening and observes and logs the reading of alcohol Sensor (Breathalyzer). * Makes house runs to ensure the safety of the residents and facility. Logs house runs and specific findings in the staff communication book. * In crisis situations escorts resident to the hospital and reports the outcome to staff on duty. Enters results in the staff communications book and notifies all staff via email. * Reports specific incidents and submits an incident report to Required parties Assistant and documents in the communication book and via email. * Participates in staff development groups, feedback meetings, staff trainings and other meetings and groups as assigned. * Must be on the floor with residents’ except when engaged in administrative duties. Ensures all money, metro cards, and vouchers are in order and that the procedures for turning over the house are followed. * De-escalates situations with residents as problems arise on floor and/or when interaction is needed. * Follows up when residents have lost their privileges (L.O.P’s) or have their assigned Learning Experiences (L.E.’s) and ensures that L.O.P’s and L.E.’s are carried out as directed. Also monitor residents on house containment and speaking bans. * Answers phones, greet incoming residents and guests. Maintains program log book, and visitors log. Qualifications/Criteria: * Must be able to sit approximately six hours a day. * Experience working with substance abusers and/or the mentally ill. * Understanding of therapeutic community dynamics, procedures, and concepts. * Must enforce the policies and procedures that govern this agency. * Regular attendance is required. * Must be available to work a flexible schedule including some evenings, weekends and holidays. * Must be well organized, have good communication, writing and problem solving skills. Education: * High School Diploma/GED
