Description

DERBY

Are you caring, compassionate and motivated by making a real difference in people’s lives? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? If so, this could be the role for you.
At Waythrough, we believe recovery is possible for everyone. We’re looking for a dedicated Recovery Worker (Maternity Cover) to join our Derby services and support people experiencing mental health crisis to take the next step in their recovery journey.

You will work across two vital services delivered by Waythrough:

  • Derby Safe Haven (4:30pm – 12:30am) – providing same-day, face-to-face emotional support in a safe and welcoming space.
  • Crisis House Service (shift options: 7:00am–3:00pm, 2:00pm–9:00pm, or 9:00pm–7:00am waking night shifts) – offering intensive, recovery-focused support in a therapeutic residential environment.

Your rota will cover both services and include:

  • Weekend working (with one weekend off in every four)
  • 24/7 rota schedule – planned 4 weeks in advance for your work-life balance
  • Waking nights paid at an enhanced rate (£15 per shift)

What You’ll Do

  • Provide face-to-face recovery-focused support to people in crisis
  • Deliver safety planning and therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs
  • Signpost and connect people to ongoing support in the community
  • Work alongside a supportive team to reduce unnecessary hospital admissions and promote safe, independent recovery
  • Help individuals to achieve their goals, whether that’s managing daily life, building confidence, or accessing work, education or leisure

No direct experience is required – full training is provided. What matters most is your:

  • Empathy, compassion and enthusiasm for helping others
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and adapt to changing situations
  • Willingness to work flexibly as part of a rota (including evenings and weekends)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential)

Experience of mental health support or lived experience of mental health challenges is highly valued.

We value and invest in our staff. In return for your dedication, you’ll receive:

  • £24,570 per annum + £15 waking night supplement
  • Birthday day off every year
  • A 4-week rota issued in advance for better work-life balance
  • Excellent training and development opportunities, including apprenticeships
  • The chance to be part of a forward-thinking organisation making a real difference locally

WHEN APPLYING, PLEASE UPLOAD A CV AND SUPPORTING STATEMENT WHICH SHOULD CLEARLY OUTLINE YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE.

Learning and development is important to us, and we are pleased to be able to offer a wide range of apprenticeships. We hire apprentices into specific roles as well as offering apprenticeships to the workforce. Anyone can apply to undertake an apprenticeship relevant to the role as long as they are in a permanent post and have successfully passed probation.
Waythrough launched in October 2024 following the merger of Humankind and Richmond Fellowship (RF). Aquarius supports people in the Midlands affected by substance use or gambling. It was a subsidiary of Richmond Fellowship and is now a subsidiary of Waythrough.
We are specialists in mental health, alcohol, drugs and related areas. We provide high quality, evidence-based services, which are designed around the needs of the people we support. Our vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value.
