Catherine Place is an independent retirement residence located in St. Boniface. We are a team of professionals who are proud to deliver a unique combination of services to meet the needs of our tenants in a retirement community. We are currently looking for a Recreation Coordinator to join our vibrant residence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education in Recreation, Leisure Studies or Gerontology and several years experience in the recreation field for older adults.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the social, recreation and wellness needs of the residents.
  • Proficient in the use of various computer devices and programs including Microsoft Office, Publisher, Activity Connection, Etc.
  • Experience with creative posting on social media platforms
  • A valid driver’s licence is required, a Class 4 (Bus) would be an asset
  • First Aid/CPR certification would be an asset
  • A City of Winnipeg clear Police Record Check/Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement unique social and recreation programs in a growing active seniors’ residence
  • Accurately follow and show success in growth of participation of events
  • Creation of posts on social media platforms promoting activities, events and wellness in the resident and maintaining these accounts by responding to comments daily
  • Keeping the residents internal reader boards up to date with daily posts
  • Plan, organize and accompany residents on bus excursions
  • Learn residents likes and requirements upon initial move-in and periodically update these assessments as to their interests and participation in recreation programs.
  • Maintain up to date and accurate files and statistics on the successful execution of programs. Assess programs participation to enhance future programming.
  • Ensure that all programs are conducted in a safe and secure environment.
  • Create and prepare monthly newsletter with calendar of events and activities; ensure all residents are aware of and encouraged to participate in these events and activities.
  • Obtain and maintain a supply of equipment for activities and programs; maintain an inventory of items.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Leasing and Dining Services departments for events
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with community resources to facilitate their delivery of specialized programs, entertainment and presentations.
  • Maintain knowledge in the latest trends and developments in recreation programming for older adults by reading relevant materials, attending workshops, etc.
  • Occasional relief of cash handling of store/ kitchen floats and purchases
  • Maintain monthly spending/expenses while staying within monthly budget
  • Decorate residence for events as needed
  • Sourcing purchases for prizing, activities
  • Research of appropriate entertainers and securing the bookings, requesting cheques etc.
  • Managing Bus Drivers available hours along with booking extra excursions with Bus Company
  • Must be physically able to create and personally run safe appropriate group exercise programs for the residents
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
    Expected hours: 40 per week
