SUMMARY

About the position: This position is assigned to the Arts & Crafts facility of the 6th Force Support Squadron Community Services Flight, MacDill AFB, FL.
Must be able to see all colors.

QUALIFICATIONS

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:

Must have knowledge of custom picture framing and be capable of instructing custom framing in a classroom selling. Must have the ability to use framing equipment and tools, to include mat culler, comer chopper, glass cutter and comer joiner. Must be able to exhibit a knowledge of composition, design and colors. Must possess basic math skills. Applicant must have experience which provided a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in group activities or programs, and practical knowledge and/or experience of recreational activities and equipment used in arts and crafts skills development. Must be able to deal with staff and the public in a professional manner. Must be able to sec all colors.

Responsibilities

Assists customers of the Arts & Crafts Skills Development Center’s Frame Shop in a wide variety of framing needs. Manufactures custom frame projects, following prepared work orders. With specific information from patrons, determines the requirements for the specific design and mating by laying out, measuring and cutting. Recommends and assists customers with custom design options available, i.e., matting. colors, etc. Fills customized orders with skill and knowledge of methods and techniques used in framing, i.e., comer joints, glass cutting, etc. Instructs customers in the use of the frame shop’s equipment, policies, and facilities by teaching formal classes on a periodic basis. Assists customers in the proper use of tools and materials needed for framing projects by guidance and instruction; Assists supervisor in determining stock levels of merchandise and supplies and ordering. Prepares cost sheets for customers to make payment. Conducts periodic inventory of all merchandise and equipment within the frame shop. Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the frame shop.
