Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, Utah is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Recreation Assistant to join our outstanding team! $17.00-$20.00 /hr. (Part time and full-time positions available). JOB SUMMARY The Recreation Assistant/Memory Care provides support in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational activities tailored to the needs of residents, particularly those with memory impairments. This role is essential in promoting socialization, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being of veterans residing at the Southern Utah Veterans Home. The ideal candidate must be comfortable working, able to cover additional shifts when needed, preferable a CTRS license but can get TRT license through us. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Assist in developing and conducting recreational programs and activities designed for residents with memory care needs. * Engage residents in meaningful activities that promote mental, physical, and emotional well-being. * Provide one-on-one and group support to residents during activities, ensuring safety and participation. * Observe and report changes in residents’ behavior or condition to the appropriate staff. * Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all participants. * Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to enhance resident care and activity planning. * Assist with set-up and clean-up of activity areas and materials. * Encourage resident independence and dignity through supportive interactions. QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Experience working with elderly populations, preferably in memory care or long-term care settings, is preferred. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills. * Ability to engage and motivate residents with varying cognitive abilities. * Compassionate, patient, and attentive to the needs of veterans. * Basic knowledge of recreational therapy principles is a plus. * Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed. WORK ENVIRONMENT This position is based at the Southern Utah Veterans Home in Ivins, St. George, UT. The Recreation Assistant/Memory Care will work closely with residents, families, and healthcare staff in a supportive and team-oriented environment.
