Job Title: Recreation Assistant
Location: Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School and Great Marlow School, Marlow
Hours: Casual contract: Saturdays, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Sunday working may also be required, holiday cover and evenings)
Reports To: Sports & Facilities Manager
Salary: £13.76 Hourly

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE:

The Key Holder is responsible for opening, securing, and overseeing the premises during Saturday activities. Some Sunday working may also be required which will be agreed in advance. This role ensures that the site is safe, secure, and well-maintained while in use for lettings, events, or school-approved activities. There may also be the opportunity to work across other sites within the Marlow Education Trust.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Opening and Closing Duties:
  • Unlock and secure all required buildings and gates at designated times.
  • Ensure the site is fully secure upon departure, checking all doors, windows, and alarms.
  • Site Supervision:
  • Be the main on-site contact for hirers or staff using the premises.
  • Monitor access to the site and ensure only authorised individuals are allowed entry.
  • Health & Safety:
  • Conduct routine checks of the site throughout the day to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Identify and report any maintenance or health and safety issues to the Sports & Facilities Manager.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Act as the first point of contact in the event of an emergency.
  • Follow school procedures for incidents, evacuations, or first aid if necessary (training provided).
  • General Support:
  • Assist with setting up or tidying areas before or after use as required.
  • Provide minor support to hirers (e.g., helping with access to equipment or rooms).
  • Setting up furniture and equipment for school events and external lettings.
  • Assist in maintaining the external areas of the school including clearing leaves, litter picking and arranging furniture.
