We have plenty in store, from new experiences and enhancements to time-honored traditions that continue to make this lakeside retreat so special! We are now accepting applications for Recreation - BCH Activities Assistant for our upcoming season. The BHC Activity Assistant will bring guests on guided kayak treks, hikes, bikes and lead other outdoor recreation fun. Rally guests for a game of soccer or kickball, generate excitement about the Pool Party and lead evening programming. Basic knowledge about the outdoors and the local landscape is a plus. Requirements Some essential competencies are: Understanding the need for proper etiquette and service standards, prior children's programming or camp counselor experience preferred, able to take and give clear direction and work in a team environment, attention to detail, efficient, and able to perform multiple tasks systematically in a fast-paced environment, ability to read and follow safety protocols. This role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as a friendly and engaging demeanor with our guest5s. A willingness to learn about or have general knowledge about the local area, landscape, and history. Preferred experience leading, guiding or teaching people of many ages and physical skill levels. Maintain a keen interest in outdoor recreation with particular area of interest or expertise (i.e biking, hiking, kayaking, etc) Current CPR and first aid certification preferred. Employees must maintain a clean, well kept, professional appearance. As well, shift work may be long and varied, including evening and weekends, required full-shift walking and standing. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently. Basin Harbor conducts pre-employment criminal background and reference checks on all employees.
Responsibilities
The Activities Assistant will guide guests on various outdoor recreation activities such as kayak treks, hikes, and bike rides, and lead other outdoor fun. This role also involves rallying guests for games like soccer or kickball and leading evening programming.
