This Job Description outlines the basic requirements, duties, and general responsibilities of the position of Recreation Coordinator. Job Summary: Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor-Aquatics and Community, this position assists with the day-to-day operations of pool facilities seasonally and is responsible for coordinating, implementing, and managing a variety of recreation programs year-round. This role involves high-level staff supervision, safety management, curriculum development, and ensuring exceptional customer experience for all aquatic and recreation programming. This position serves to support the Aquatics and Community Supervisor in the completion of duties encompassing the full spectrum of the program process, including registration, league set up, patron services, and communication, and as a program representative. This position will be required to work some weekends, evenings, and Holidays. Essential Functions: The following duties are an overview of the primary duties and responsibilities of the Recreation Supervisor and should not be considered an all-inclusive list. Aquatics and Staff Coordination: Lead and mentor up to five Staff Supervisors and up to sixty seasonal aquatics staff (lifeguards and Guest Service staff) with the assistance of the Supervisor Oversee daily pool operations to ensure safety, cleanliness, and efficiency, maintaining high standards of care, including the execution of StarGuard Elite's standard of care. Work with supervisor to coordinate hiring, training, onboarding, and coaching of part-time and seasonal staff, recommending promotions, reassignments, or terminations to the Recreation Supervisor. Manage staff performance by conducting bi-weekly performance reviews of staff supervisors and overseeing completion of seasonal staff performance reviews. Plan and implement team-building activities and incentives. Assist in emergency responses and lead staff until emergency services arrive. Adjust weekly staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage. Program Coordination and Development: Create, organize, and supervise various sports programs; assist with registration; train coaches; officiate games when needed; coordinate meetings, order equipment and uniforms; schedule games. Implement, manage, and coordinate community recreation programs, with a focus on birthday parties. Research, conduct needs assessments and develop new community programs for all ages to meet the community's recreational needs, with oversight from the Recreation Supervisor. Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, managing revenues and expenditures, and recommending program-related costs, fees, and locations. Serves as the sole representative for the Ken-Caryl Ranch at scheduled program dates. Perform all necessary administrative responsibilities, including but not limited to phone calls, emails, registration, and other program-related duties. Assess the current recreation and sports opportunities available for adults and design, develop, and implement new leagues or classes to address any gaps Cultivate positive, professional relationships with children, parents, and families; efficiently and professionally navigate customer feedback. Consistently promotes a positive, professional image of the district and always provides excellent customer service, while demonstrating the district’s core values of respect, accountability, integrity, continuous improvement, engagement, and relationship building. Positions Supervised: The Recreation Coordinator is responsible for assisting in supervision and providing work directions to five Staff Supervisors and up to sixty seasonal staff members and recreation assistants. Requirements Required Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age. A minimum of two years of experience in staff management or a combination of relevant education/experience. Possess, or be able to obtain upon hire, valid First Aid and CPR certifications, and a valid Colorado driver's license. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency in seasonal staff management, aquatics/pool management, and program coordination. Highly organized, punctual, and flexible with the ability to demonstrate compassion and patience. Effective and clear written and oral communication with diverse audiences (staff, parents, supervisors). Proactive work ethic Ability to make quick, rational decisions in dynamic or challenging environments, especially those affecting participant safety and well-being. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn recreation program software. Special Requirements: Possess, or ability to obtain upon hire, valid First Aid and CPR certifications upon hire as well as all applicable licensing requirements and certifications. Possess or ability to obtain upon hire a StarGuard Elite Instructor Certification. Possess or ability to obtain a valid Colorado driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and be insurable by the District's carrier. Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and can quickly learn new software, including specific recreation program software. Work and Physical Requirements: The role involves working in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations, including classrooms, pools, offices, District parks, recreational facilities, and venues around the Denver metro area. A substantial portion of the work is sedentary, administrative work performed in an office setting. Requires moderate physical activity, including: Occasionally lifting items over 50 pounds. Frequently lifting items up to 20 pounds. The ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, bend, lift, squat, push, pull, crawl, jump, slide, climb, pinch, grip, reach overhead, reach away from the body, and perform repetitive motions. Work is performed in all weather conditions. The role will involve periods of high physical, mental, and/or emotional stress.
