OVERVIEW:

The Manor Park Community Council (MPCC) provides year-round recreational programming for children and adults in the Manor Park Community Centre (100 Thornwood Road) and 1805 Gaspe. In addition to the programming space indoors, planned activities take place on the surrounding greenspace, sports fields and at satellite locations.
The MPCC is a city of Ottawa community partner, making recreation a key activity. In addition, the MPCC also provides licensed child care, plans community events, builds and operates outdoor rinks, and rents space for gatherings and celebrations.
Key recreational activities include: After3 in Manor Park (A3), Summer Day Camps in Manor Park, fitness, team sports, art classes, and workshops.
After 3 in Manor Park (A3), engages children in grades 1-4 with arts, games, sports and specialty programming after-school during the September to June school year. In July and August, children are offered weekly themed programs in Summer Day Camps in Manor Park. Recreational programs are delivered by MPCC staff, and volunteers. Fitness classes take place year-round while team sports are planned outdoor during the spring and fall.
The Coordinator is responsible for developing, planning and implementing a variety of stimulating recreational activities while maintaining a safe environment for both adults and children. Mentoring and supervising staff and volunteers, along with day- to- day operations are part of the job responsibilities. Success is realized by the delivery of innovative activities, the safety of participants and robust enrollment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Supervising team members: 1 year
  • Working with children: 3 years
  • Up to date First Aid and CPR level C certification.

· Clear Police Records Check (Level 3: Vulnerable sector).

  • Ability to speak and write in English and French.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with parents, staff, community members and stakeholders
  • Skill in the use of common computer programs and office machines, including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Amilia.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate and establish rapport, understanding and confidence with participants and the general public.
  • Ability to lead a team and remain calm, patient, and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to flex work hours according to activity needs;
  • Ability to understand, follow and complete oral and written directions.
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) certificate (an asset)

  • Answer phone calls, emails and log absences prior to staff arrival.
  • Ensure children arrive at the program from the school/bus safely.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for children and staff.
  • Act as a positive role model for children, demonstrating kindness, patience, and respect in all interactions.
