MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Physical Education, Leisure Services or related field; supplemented by five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in recreation programming and facility operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Preference given for Master’s Degree in those same areas. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. May be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications: CPR and Certified Parks and Recreation Professional.

Physical Requirements: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct and evaluate assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
  • Coordinate daily work activities; organize, prioritize, and assign work; create and distribute staff schedules; ensure adequate staffing for programs and events; monitor status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consult with assigned staff, assist with complex/problem situations, and provide technical expertise.
  • Oversee facility reservations and coordinate usage and set up to include opening and closing procedures
  • Coordinates the facility rental process and procedures.
  • Establishes schedules and methods for providing recreation services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Approves final schedules of classes, events and programs; reserves facilities and schedules grounds use; provides information and direction as needed;
  • Participates in the development of goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards, policies, and procedures; participate in the implementation of approved policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Develops, implements and maintains the recreation program budget; make recommendations regarding budget requests; monitor expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget.
  • Conducts market research to determine customer satisfaction and opportunities to improve and/or add programs and services
