Hays House is a critical part of the Idaho Youth Ranch family of programs. It is the only 24-hour shelter for homeless and runaway youth in the Treasure Valley and Idaho’s only Safe Place®. As a Recreation Specialist for the Hays House residential facility, you can proudly tell your family and friends that you help nurture hope, healing, and resilience in Idaho’s youth by coordinating and implementing the therapeutic recreational activities for the youth in our care. Every member of the IYR works to contribute to the Programs and Services in their own way to make them accessible to all youth who need those services in Idaho. Must Haves: Must be 21 years of age Must have a valid Idaho driver’s license or obtain one within 15 days of hire Must have a high school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience Our Recreation Specialists: Identifies recreational interests for each youth and develops the recreational section of the Service/Treatment Plan Create, develop and schedule recreation, large muscle activities (LMA) and service learning opportunities that are sensitive and inclusive of individual youth needs, limitations and restrictions Develop community relationships for recreation and service learning opportunities Provides care and supervision to youth residents As a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit, the Idaho Youth Ranch is a qualifying employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PLSF) program. The PLSF offers student loan forgiveness on qualifying loans under specific conditions. Speak with your loan provider for more information. Responsibilities
