Your Opportunity:
Your position would be in the Stroke Early Supported Discharge team and you will be a part of an innovative program providing rehabilitation with clients in their own home. This team is a trans-disciplinary team providing an opportunity for exceptional team work and specialization in the area of stroke rehabilitation. The Recreation Therapist in this role ensures the level of recreation therapy practice is evidence based and meets recreation therapy standards of practice. This position is a community based position requiring the scheduling of clients and visiting the clients in their homes as part of the Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) program, but could also be providing support in the acute care area. The Recreation Therapist is responsible for direct patient care, supervision of therapy assistants, and participation in program maintenance and evaluation. This program has a very strong focus on client centered care provided by a Trans-disciplinary team to achieve the client’s goals. There is also a strong focus on Stroke Best Practice care and our services are continually tracked with the appropriate outcome measures. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.
Description:

As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.
