RECREATIONAL THERAPIST / ACTIVITIES CO-ORDINATOR – FLEXIBLE MINIMUM 2 DAYS PER WEEK- 9 AM-4 PM
We are looking for kind, compassionate people to work at our 35-bed Nursing Home in Dorking, Surrey, with a CQC ‘Good’ rating in all domains. The home is situated in a beautiful location with a friendly and long-standing team of staff working in a family-like environment. We offer general and palliative nursing care to our elderly residents.
We pride ourselves on offering a service that our staff would use for their loved ones, should the necessity arise. We need staff who are committed to this same standard of care.
Our Activity Coordinator will be part of the caring team who will support and help create a stimulating environment and encourage our residents to enhance their quality of life on an ongoing basis:
· You will be expected to be warm, empathetic, have an understanding of and sympathy with elderly people.
· Support the personal care and emotional well-being of residents through activities and other organised events;
· You’ll help to devise imaginative, fun and motivational activities that suit every interest and ability.
· You need to create tailored activities programmes focused on maximising everyone’s wellbeing, independence.
· Arrange entertainment and maintain appropriate documentation per the monthly activities budget.
· Organise in-house and other events such as Christmas parties, Easter raffles, Summer fares and bonfire parties
· Ensure that adequate supplies are purchased for the events whilst still working within the set budget
· Organise outings for the Service Users and escort when necessary, ensuring the appropriate staffing levels, transport and venues are taken into consideration.
· Encourage residents to participate in the daily activities
· Assist in completing a profile of each individual Service User’s preferences to different activities and document in care plans.
· Liaise with the Person in Charge with respect to the Service Users’ individual abilities regularly.
· Plan and organise virtual visits for the relatives of our residents; Oversee any home visits, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and families
· Provide one-on-one personal care to include hairdressing, nail care, make-up etc.
· Any similar experience would be ideal, but it isn’t essential
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
· GCSE English Language at a least of a Grade B (or equivalent Level 2 qualification).
· Basic computer skills are essential to maintain care records on the computer system.
· Willingness to continually learn and develop. Excellent communication skills.
· Willingness to work flexible hours (e.g. help run activities outside of normal working hours). Understanding of the nursing home ethos.
