Description
Recruiter Department: Human Resources Employment Type: Full Time Location: Mississauga Compensation: $70,000 / year Description The Role We'd like to tell you a story -- a tale of two Recruiters, if you will. It's Monday morning in a generic office space that's bathed in a dull fluorescent light. Already two coffees deep, you're slouched at your desk. Over the weekend, your inbox has filled with an avalanche of applicants for hundreds of different openings at almost as many companies. A strict hiring quota means you're spending an average of forty-five seconds reading each and every one of them. With mouse movements dictated solely by muscle memory, you spend an idle moment wondering why you didn't take a plumbing course instead. It would have been a far more compelling use of your time than cleaning the pipes in your ATS. That afternoon, you take your shortlist-in-name-only and begin calling dozens of candidates. Each call is the same as the last - you put on the affectation of a TV salesman, trying to plug as many holes as you can. After what feels like a week, the clock strikes five. Like magic, the mind-numbing labour of the past eight hours becomes a sort of featureless sludge in the deepest recesses of your memory, never to be unearthed again. In an alternate universe, that same Monday morning is now set within dbrand's office. Someone new is starting and first days aren't administrative checklists -- they are first impressions. You're there to ensure it's a flawless initiation into our cult. Between the intentional introductions and inside jokes to acclimate them as one of us, you lead them through a curated day of events and quietly observe as the team you helped assemble expands by one more carefully chosen member. An unspoken debt of gratitude exists in each and every interaction -- an understanding that this professional and personal bond only exists because you asked the right questions, then they gave the right answers. Each day is coloured by the quiet sense of pride you feel in seeing your hires learn, grow, and make an impact. Tomorrow, the commute is approximately ten steps into your home office. Today is about focus as you open your laptop. There are five openings. Your job, as always, is to give measured, careful consideration to every applicant. The hours fly by. By the end of the day, you've lined up three interviews with talented candidates that you can't wait to speak to. If everything goes according to plan, you'll have three new participants that will be inducted the following Monday. If you're reading this, it's pretty likely that your Mondays are a lot closer to the first story than the second one -- hence why you're looking for a change. Well, we've got good news and bad news. The good news is that by opening this job ad, you're already one step closer to making the dream a reality. The bad news? We're only hiring one Recruiter. We need a highly-organized, motivated, and dedicated individual who's an unparalleled judge of character. Serving as our brand advocate for potential hires, this individual will be overseeing each part of the recruitment pipeline from posting to hiring, as well as networking to maintain a well-staffed backbench for future openings. If that's not you, save us all some time and close this tab. If, on the other hand, you check all of the boxes? Your Mondays are about to get a lot more interesting. The Environment dbrand thrives where other eCommerce companies have failed because our customers enjoy a revolutionary degree of commitment, engagement, and accessibility from us. It's a relationship best summarized by our brand promise: "It's not a product. It's a culture.™" Maintaining an internal culture of excellence, the likes of which our highly-engaged audience demands and deserves, is critical to dbrand's current and future success. Surrounded by a diverse team that lives and breathes dbrand, the Recruiter is tasked with finding and attracting world-class talent who will seamlessly integrate with our workplace culture. This isn't an easy bar for applicants to clear - it demands an understanding of our extremely high standards and a willingness to exceed all expectations. Finding and securing talent of this caliber is a process that begins and ends with a Recruiter who exhibits those qualities in excess. So, what's in it for you? Well, unlike most companies, we actually care about the work we're doing. Finding and acquiring talent that feels the same is its own reward. At dbrand, you have the opportunity to create once-in-a-lifetime career opportunities for others while experiencing your own. If you're someone who's organized, committed, and excited about our mission, to say you'd thrive here would be an understatement. Before you can get the opportunity to join our passionate, dynamic team and help to create a truly one-of-a-kind workforce, you'll need to prove yourself. Let’s see if you’ve got what it takes… The Characteristics Agile: You’re nimble. You’re adaptable. You thrive in an environment where priorities can change in an instant. Analytical: Your decisions are driven by only one thing: data. You continue to master all the tools necessary to surface insights. Collaborative: You enjoy purposeful meetings. You value the contributions and perspectives of your colleagues as much as those of your CEO. Curious: You’re eager to learn new concepts and master new skills. There’s no tool that’s useless in your arsenal. Disciplined: You never allow the details to slip, understanding that every bit of minutiae forms the bigger picture. Enthusiastic: You exhibit a contagious passion for aligning top talent with available opportunities. Innovative: You develop new approaches to complex problems. Perfectionist: You persist until the smallest detail has been optimized. Knows nothing less than 100%. Persistent: You’ve never failed. You’ve only experienced speed bumps on your path to success. Reliable: You live up to both verbal and written agreements. You can be trusted to work effectively, without oversight. The Responsibilities and Qualifications In order to make a positive impact as part of our team, your focus in this role will be to: Develop a comprehensive understanding of company core values and business processes across the organization, resulting in strong partnerships with hiring managers to understand team culture, role requirements, and business needs. Own full-cycle recruiting and onboarding across all roles, from intake through signed offer. Develop and execute creative sourcing strategies using job boards, referrals, and proactive outreach. Deliver a cohesive, brand-aligned candidate experience at every stage of the hiring process. Conduct structured phone and video interviews, providing clear recommendations and counsel to hiring managers. Manage offer negotiations, reference checks, and background checks. Maintain accurate ATS records and recruiting metrics. Use data and market insights to refine sourcing, improve hiring outcomes, and strengthen diversity initiatives. Ensure onboarding and offboarding workflows are completed accurately and on time. Follow up after 30/60/90-day milestones to ensure successful integration and identify any early concerns. Conduct post-departure debriefs with hiring managers to refine role scope, candidate sources, and hiring processes for future searches. Effective use of internal tools for communication and task management as part of daily operations. Continuously review and refine the recruiting process and implement measurable improvements. Support HR initiatives (e.g. compensation updates, departmental projects, employee events) and with temporary staffing needs from sourcing through onboarding as required. If you find a box you can’t check, stop reading and look for a company who demands less from their employees: A degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related Business program. Minimum two years experience recruiting or talent acquisition experience with a focus on culture fit. Proven track record of full-cycle recruiting, with high standards for candidate experience and innovative recruiting strategies. Experience hiring across multiple functions and seniority levels concurrently. Strong experience with ATS systems and recruiting analytics. An impeccable communication style - you have exceptional and proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate in a compelling and concise manner. Detail oriented, self sufficient, resourceful, organized and proactive. The instinct to help teammates thrive and the openness to learn from their experience. The ability to solve complex problems (or know where to find the answers). Insights and engagement with the current state of technology and internet culture. Commitment to long-term growth and learning opportunities. The Moment of Truth The job starts at $70,000 per year with health, dental, vision, profit-sharing and GRSP benefits. We’re located a few minutes west of Pearson Airport. Still think you have what it takes to ensure that we're attracting the world-class talent that our customers deserve? To be perfectly honest, we doubt it. Your turn to prove us wrong. Vacancy Status Disclosure: This job posting is a backfill for an existing role.
