JOB SUMMARY

Your core responsibilities will be to work in conjunction with the Director to develop, implement, and evaluate targeted recruitment strategies to encourage high school students to consider college, and attract a talented and diverse population of first-year students to apply and enroll in LSA.
This position is in the Office of Student Recruitment, which reports to the Assistant Dean for Student Development and Career Initiatives in the Division of Undergraduate Education. You will report to the Director of Student Recruitment.
The Office of Student Recruitment is committed to increasing college access for students currently underrepresented at U-M, promoting LSA’s liberal arts education, and connecting prospective undergraduates to appropriate campus resources to help them thrive. Our unit is a dynamic, friendly work environment that values innovation and collaboration.
The nature of this role requires overnight travel and working evening and weekend hours. Employees in the position have the option of working a hybrid schedule of days on campus in Ann Arbor and working remotely.
Candidates must have direct experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and identities. Candidates must also have the ability to effectively articulate the values of a liberal arts education to a broad range of constituents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Bachelor’s degree (liberal arts and sciences degree preferred).
  • At least one year of experience working in college recruitment or access, college admissions, education, youth or young adult programming, event management, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated experience working with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and identities.
  • Applied experience with project management best practices, including responsiveness and prioritization.
  • Interest in delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with presenting to groups and managing events.
Responsibilities
  • Advise prospective students on the admissions process and academic opportunities.
  • Present to prospective students and discuss the value and benefits of a U-M liberal arts education, including the holistic set of campus resources.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate on-campus visits and events for prospective and admitted first-year students.
  • Represent LSA at numerous virtual and in-person college fairs, high school visits, and programs in Michigan and targeted states.
  • Use our database systems to run reports, analyze data, and monitor trends.
  • Hire, train, and supervise 15 to 17 LSA undergraduate students to serve as student ambassadors and student leaders.
  • Train student team to present at 24 LSA Campus Day information sessions.
  • Provide training, meetings, weekly feedback, and opportunities for professional development for student ambassadors.
  • Prepare short- and long-term recruiting strategies to meet program goals and evaluate results.
  • Update all prospective and admitted student print and virtual materials.
  • Coordinate your own travel schedule.
