ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to join the Recruitment and Workforce Strategy Team to support recruitment and HR functions at the NSW SES. This is a part time role, working 14 hours per week (Tuesday and Fridays), job sharing with another Recruitment Advisor who is currently working part time up to end of March 2026. This role is performed out of our NSW SES State Headquarters in Wollongong, and there is some flexibility with hybrid working arrangements.
The Recruitment Advisor manages a portfolio of Directorates, including Zone based roles that are geographically dispersed across NSW. The role provides advice and support to hiring managers and other key stakeholders in relation to recruitment, workforce planning and HR reporting. A key part of this role is engaging with, and supporting, managers and Senior Executives on recruitment and workforce strategies, designing job advertisements and assessments and writing and evaluating Role Descriptions to support effective job design and organisational structure. The role will also manage a Recruitment Support Officer, providing guidance and learning in their everyday tasks to support them in delivering first class recruitment support.
Being able to interpret legislation and frameworks is critical to the success in this role as it provides compliant advice in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act/Rules and Regulations and the application of the PSC’s Capability Framework. Experience in these legislations and guidelines is beneficial, however not essential as this can be learnt on the job. We are looking for professional recruiters who have strong experience in running recruitment actions and being able to creatively market NSW SES roles across a broad range of platforms to achieve positive recruitment outcomes and hires.
