Description This position is responsible for the safe operation and supervision of the recycling center, including equipment and supply maintenance. Responds to recycling truck drivers and to others wishing to utilize the recycling center. Provides daily supervision of recycling center operations. Maintains recyclable materials processed and baled and in their respective bins, boxes or trailers. Maintains equipment and supplies. Ensures recycling center is clean and safe, and insures that the tipping floor is free of debris by keeping recyclable materials pushed into their respective bins. Maintains accurate records and paperwork for operation. Operates front-end loader, all machines at recycling site including baler, forklift and separator/blower, and scales. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Knowledge of sorting and separating recyclable materials. Skill in operating a baler, front-end loader, forklift and aluminum/metal can separator and can crusher/blower. Skill in working with contract workers, prison guard and prison detail. Skill in maintaining office records. Skill in dealing with the public. Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
Responsibilities
The Recycle Center Operator is responsible for the safe operation and supervision of the recycling center, including equipment maintenance and responding to recycling truck drivers. They also maintain the cleanliness and safety of the center and ensure accurate record-keeping.
