The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications from prospective internal candidates as a regular full time Recycling Facility Leader V (site supervisor) Position in Solid Waste Operations within the Recycling & Waste Management Division within the Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Solid Waste Operations the Recycling Facility Leader V (site supervisor) ensures the safe, efficient operation of CVRD Recycling facilities including a transfer station and truck fleet coordination. This position coordinates the daily facilities operations, including supervising and directing the work of staff, coordinating contractor servicing requirements, administering and enforcing OH&S policies and related regulatory requirements to ensure the facilities operate safely and efficiently. The purpose of this posting is to backfill a vacant position. The anticipated start date is upon completion of the posting verification process, approximately mid to late February 2026. Qualifications Secondary School graduation or equivalency Keyboarding and basic office equipment training, and Microsoft Office training Five (5) years of experience directing staff in a related supervisory role inclusive of conflict management Two (2) years of experience: working in an industrial workplace; working with cash and other forms of payment in a professional capacity (daily reconciliations, float); and, using administrative and office equipment Experience: dispatching drivers to achieve maximum efficiencies; and, using MS Office software at a basic level (Outlook, Word, Excel) An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Hours of Work This regular full time position is guaranteed 40 hours per week. The anticipated shift is 10 hours per day, Wednesday through Saturday, subject to change. Salary This position is unionized (USW Local 1-1937) with a Step 1 wage rate of $40.75 per hour and a Step 2 wage rate of $43.29 per hour (2026 wage rates).
