The Heavy Duty or Commercial Transportation Mechanic position will primarily be responsible for working safely and efficiently while performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting breakdowns and repairs.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES ()

• Journeyman (Red Seal) Commercial Transportation or Heavy-Duty Mechanic OR
• Experienced 3rd or 4th year Heavy Duty Mechanic may be considered
• Ability to supply own set of tools
• Ability to work afternoon shifts of a rotational basis
• Previous experience in Heavy Civil Equipment & Commercial Trucking/Trailer Industries
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License
• Valid Class 1 or 3 (with air endorsement), is considered an asset
• Welding ticket and/or experience is considered an asset

• Present a positive and professional image of the organization to all visitors, suppliers, inquiries and other interactions
• Perform duties that range from routine preventative maintenance to repairing major breakdowns, including troubleshooting and diagnostics on electric and electronic issues
• Disassemble and reassemble components such as engines, transmissions, cooling systems, fuel and exhaust systems, brakes, clutches, differentials, hydraulics, electrical systems and lubrication systems
• Diagnose, maintain and repair mobile machinery and equipment including highway trucks, haul trucks, graders, bulldozers, excavators, shovels, loaders, and other heavy equipment
• Fabricate and weld parts when required
• Record and maintain accurate work orders
• Diagnose and repair air systems
• Perform work in accordance with Milner Group’s safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
• Be self motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• All other duties as required
