JOB SUMMARY:

The successful candidate will bring expertise in machining, a commitment to quality, and a passion for precision manufacturing. The Journeyman Machinist will detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machines, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to insure quality of production, and report all machine malfunctions to their immediate supervisor. This position will require an individual who is familiar with all types of machinery including CNC machines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Red Seal Certification as a Machinist (or equivalent certification).
  • Proven experience in machining, with proficiency in both CNC and manual machining operations.
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tools, and materials.
  • Skilled in interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with CNC programming (G-code, M-code) is an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during machining operations.
  • Capability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery and tools.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC and manual machines to produce precision components.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure parts meet required tolerances and finishes.
  • Perform routine inspections using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and make adjustments to ensure optimal performance and product quality.
  • Collaborate with engineers and team members to optimize production processes and achieve project goals.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to company safety standards.
  • Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on machinery as required.
