POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance, the Millwright will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our CLT and Glulam manufacturing equipment. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery and mechanical equipment, with a primary focus on optimizing production efficiency and minimizing downtime. This position is located at our facility in Okanagan Falls, BC.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Canadian Red Seal Certification
  • Minimum three (3) years of Millwright experience necessary.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Wood Products industry is a plus.
  • Proficient in cutting and welding; certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting skills in pneumatic, hydraulic, piping, and material transfer systems.
  • Hands on experience with chains, belts, sprockets, and hand tools; must own a complete set of hand tools up to an inch and a quarter.
  • Basic computer skills, including Outlook, Excel, Word, Google, and other web based applications.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance applications and the ability to use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards.
  • Strong teamwork and written and verbal communication skills; ability to work closely with supervisors and other departments.
  • Positive attitude, self-starter, and willingness to complete programs such as TPC classes.
  • Candidate must be able to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or lift 25 pounds continuously to move objects
  • Essential duties include, but are not limited to, stooping, climbing, and crawling in and over machines for repair purposes and the ability to lift heavy objects
  • Must be comfortable working above the ground at times and outside as necessary
Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing by maximizing plant uptime and provide support for facility systems in a safe manner, while contributing to corporate, plant, and departmental goals.
  • Work with a team of millwrights and electricians to deliver preventive and routine maintenance on plant equipment, troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical problems, and work on capital projects including upgrading and installation of equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints; construct and fabricate mill equipment including, but not limited to, welding and burning.
  • Deliver preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, actively participating in safety programs to create a secure work environment.
  • Assist with or perform complex repairs.
  • Gain working knowledge of Mercer Mass Timber’s fire protection system.
  • Other duties as assigned.
