General understanding of VM environments, networks, and software installations. Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without corporate sponsorship now or in the future. Proven experience with Adobe Acrobat, FrameMaker, Illustrator and Photoshop. Practical experience with Microsoft Office and Synthesia/Captivate/Camtasia or similar video development software. Experience with RoboHelp or other online help applications. Basic SQL and Windows services knowledge. Basic experience with learning management systems such as Gainsight. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Highly motivated and self-driven, ability to work on projects alone. Receives only general instructions on new work. Uses judgment, creativity, and sound technical knowledge to generate documentation. Ability to interact with several different organizational levels and geographical locations to solicit information and translate into meaningful documentation. Ability to understand the intricate technical details of how a product functions. The Technical Writer is responsible for compiling technical information related to our CYME power engineering software solutions. This includes owning the complete development cycle for user manuals, tutorials, reference manuals, validation cases, design diagrams, schematics and other technical documents related to the CYME software application. This position works closely with engineering, software development, project management, and marketing groups to solicit complex technical material and turn it into effective yet easy to follow documentation. A self-motivated individual is imperative; one who is always looking for ways to improve the user experience, stay abreast with modern writing techniques, tools, and delivery methods, and able to manage a variety of project priorities to meet launch deadlines. Create end user materials in multiple formats (online help, software manuals, release notes, interactive, video) Conform to company brand styles, terminology, and tools Identify and promote new technologies, tools, and documentation formats to incorporate into existing product literature deliverables; develop proof of concepts for group evaluation and approval Actively participate in engineering product development lifestyle Gather technical material including specifications, technical drawings, product features, and advisories for inclusion in respective documents Ability to deploy and update the enterprise software application; build up and maintain a real-world demonstration database for use in capturing screenshots for documentation Review material from other team members or resources for data accuracy, conformance, and completeness Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities or quick release turnarounds Manage a repository of technical documentation change requests; estimate effort, prioritize, and assign issues to team members Between release cycles, assist the training team with CYME-related content
