Description Job ID AF9835 -0504-1889 Position Classification FT Administrator Position Summary Provide legal reference services to faculty, students, judges, lawyers, and other library patrons. Supervise the law library serials process, to include hiring and training student worker help. Facilitate communication between legal vendors. Teach in the required 1L Legal Research course. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reference & Instruction Provide reference services. Provide legal research instruction. Participate in teaching Legal Research, a required for-credit first-year course. Technical Services Manage the processing of serials materials. Communicate with library vendors to resolve billing or access issues. Manage the routing of current awareness articles. Administrative Services Supervise and train student workers. Participate in collection maintenance. Participate in collection development. Participate in current awareness research for faculty. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Education - A doctorate degree Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Exhibits a high level of interpersonal skills to understand and solve student issues. Effective at meeting deadlines and satisfying on-demand projects while multitasking. Will quickly become proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Innovative Interface’s Millennium integrated library system program, Westlaw, Lexis Advance, Bloomberg Law, HeinOnline, Intelliconnect, and other databases and programs. Must be a team player with a willingness to perform other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements The job requires repetitively lifting lightweight objects where frequent bending or stooping alternates with lighter activities. Work Environment Occasional exposure to objectionable conditions or variations such as those found in variable weather conditions or light industrial settings. Licenses/Certifications Will become a member of the American Assn. of Law Libraries (AALL), Michigan Assn. of Law Libraries (MichALL), and Law Librarians of Metro Detroit (LLMD). Will actively participate in association events.
