JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Referral & Authorizations Specialist
Department: Skyline Health
Reports To: Revenue Cycle Manager

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Skyline Health’s Referral and Authorizations Specialist is a key member of the team. The position focuses on ensuring patients receive the care and services they need from partner organizations, specialists, and other health providers. This role collaborates with providers, patients, health insurance companies, other healthcare organizations, health and social service agencies, and more. The Referral and Authorizations Specialist must promote the mission and philosophy of Skyline in all interactions – internal and external. They will work in a variety of programs, including Cerner and insurance portals, as well as potentially others. The position may also be called upon to answer phones, greet patients, and perform other clerical functions in support of the team. Other duties may be assigned by the Department Manager.

EDUCATION BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience as secretary/admitting preferred.
• Experience with office equipment, including computers.
• Excellent phone etiquette and computer skills.
• Good communication and problem solving skills.
• Knowledge of basic insurance coding medical terminology preferred.
