Description POSITION OVERVIEW Provides a variety of administrative duties to physicians, patients, referring providers, and other members of the clinic. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manages incoming referrals in all electronic interfaces, obtains proper documentation for scheduling and appropriately builds patient charts Scheduling of all patients Acts as point of contact/liaison for referral sources and can address workflow issues for the improvement of scheduling patients Provides support services to patients, medical staff, and referring offices Provides back up scheduling, phone coverage, check in, opening, lunch, and closing assistance to Front Desk team as scheduled and when needed Accurately maintains medical files Maintains patient confidentiality Performs other assigned work as required Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Knowledge of orthopedic office procedures and terminology Proficient with phone system capabilities and Microsoft Office 365 products Previous experience working with an EMR system Knowledge of HIPAA regulations Patient centered outlook and willingness to problem solve Knowledge of computer systems and applications. Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy, review and edit reports and correspondence. Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately. Skill in operating a computer and copy machine. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two years’ experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Word processing and computer experience required. Knowledge of appropriate medical terminology, preferred WORKING CONDITIONS: 80% remote 20% in office In house training required – up to 6 weeks Constant viewing of computer monitor, mousing and typing Able to stoop, lift carry and push/pull 10 pounds or more Hours of business are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. On occasion, some early, late and overtime hours may be required
Responsibilities
The Referral Coordinator provides administrative support to physicians, patients, and referring providers by managing incoming referrals through electronic interfaces and ensuring proper documentation for scheduling. This role also acts as a point of contact for referral sources and assists the Front Desk team with various coverage duties as needed.
