Description Job Summary The Referral Coordinator is responsible for following guidelines to meet the goals established by the Director of Operations and Executive Management. Our mission is to provide exceptional quality care, and the Referral Coordinator ensures the referral process is efficient, timely and adheres to established procedures. This position reports to the Referral Supervisor. Requirements Job Responsibilities: Successfully manage patient specialty and imaging referrals assigned by Referral Supervisor Confirm diagnosis and reason for referral is provided; ensure diagnosis and request for referral match Verify patient demographics and insurance benefits? Contact patient for scheduling availability and document appropriately Schedule patient at specialty location according to patient demographics Obtain precertification if required according to established procedures Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records Answer inbound calls professionally regarding questions about service, scheduling, follow-up on appointment and lab results, etc. Complete outbound calls to follow up with patients or to connect with employers, vendors, partners, etc. Assist with additional duties as assigned Requirements: Strong patient focus with an ability to build an engaging culture of quality, performance effectiveness and operational excellence through best practices, collaboration and partnerships, as well as ensuring positive patient, team member and provider experiences Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, composure, and professional development; self-motivated and self-starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands from a variety of individuals Ability to work effectively with sensitive and confidential material and in sometimes emotionally challenging situations Effectively act as a liaison between patients and Providers Ability to follow established office routines and organizational policies Consistent effective communication skills between internal and external clients Flexibility and adaptability to meet organization’s needs as well as effective problem-solving skills Foster a high-quality work environment by mentoring and motivating team members to perform at their highest level Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities Education and Qualifications Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer service; experience in a medical office environment preferred Demonstrated knowledge of the ethics of confidentiality, HIPAA compliance and medical terminology Proficiency in Microsoft Office; including Teams, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel Experience working within an Electronic Medical Records system Work Environment: This position operates on-site in a professional medical environment Consistent use of technology throughout shift to complete assigned work tasks This position routinely uses standard office equipment Sedentary, sitting for extended periods of time Work Schedule and Travel: Typical Work Schedule: 40-hour work week Monday - Friday, 7:45am to 4pm Mileage reimbursement available for eligible business travel About the Organization: Tampa General Hospital and Fast Track Urgent Care have partnered together to create unique clinics for patients to receive compassionate and knowledgeable treatment.
