We are proud to deliver gold-standard veterinary medicine while shaping the next generation of veterinary professionals. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and advanced diagnostic technologies, GVH offers an environment where passionate professionals can truly excel. About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Referral Department Nurse to join our dynamic and growing team. This exciting role will see you working across our Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Oncology departments, supporting a diverse caseload and contributing to the delivery of exceptional patient care. As part of a fast-growing referral service, you’ll be at the forefront of advanced veterinary medicine — working alongside industry-leading specialists, helping mentor future veterinarians, and playing an integral role in the hospital’s continued success. Key Responsibilities Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care across Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Oncology. Assist with diagnostic procedures, treatments, anaesthesia and surgical cases while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Manage patient admissions, monitoring, and discharges with strong attention to detail and communication. Collaborate closely with specialists, clinicians, and other nursing staff to provide seamless, multidisciplinary care. Maintain accurate patient records and assist with treatment planning and follow-up care. Educate and support pet owners throughout their pets’ treatment journeys. Mentor and teach Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students, contributing to their clinical learning experience. Contribute to the hospital’s positive team culture and the ongoing growth of our referral departments. About You Qualifications: Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent) — essential. Experience: At least 2 years in a referral or specialist veterinary hospital (experience in Neurology, Internal Medicine, or Oncology highly regarded). Or 5 years within a General Practice setting. Skills: Strong technical abilities including venipuncture, catheterisation, anaesthetic monitoring, and inpatient care. Passion for Learning & Teaching: You thrive on sharing your knowledge and supporting veterinary students in their clinical development. Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team. Adaptability: Comfortable working across departments in a fast-paced, evolving environment. Team Spirit: Positive, proactive, and dedicated to delivering the best care possible to patients and clients alike. What We Offer Competitive remuneration package based on experience. Opportunities for career progression, continuing education, and specialist training support. A supportive and growing team that celebrates shared success. Access to world-class facilities, cutting-edge equipment, and advanced treatment modalities. The opportunity to be part of a hospital that’s leading the way in veterinary innovation and excellence. A role that allows you to make a real impact — in patient outcomes, student development, and the growth of our referral services.
