As a Referral Services Technician, you are a vital link between patients, providers, and essential healthcare services. Your work ensures that community members receive timely, coordinated, and culturally respectful care—whether that means securing authorizations, coordinating with outside providers, or guiding patients through their healthcare journey. What You’ll Do: The Referral Services Technician is responsible for managing referral processing from start to finish—ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and excellent service for patients, providers, and outside specialists. Process and manage medical and dental referrals from start to finish with accuracy and efficiency Ensure timely handling of urgent and routine referrals Verify insurance eligibility and complete pre-authorizations Coordinate care with internal teams, patients, and outside providers Identify and resolve referral issues to prevent delays in care Support patients in understanding their benefits and financial responsibility Assist Tribal Members—locally and out of area—in accessing needed services Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health record systems Provide outstanding customer service and timely communication Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless care coordination What You Bring: High school diploma or GED Three (3) years’ experience in a medical and/or dental clinic setting working directly with insurance, clinical-service pre-authorizations, and referrals Strong knowledge of medical and/or dental terminology, coding, and referral processes Experience working with insurance verification and pre-authorizations Experience working with Electronic Health Records systems Why PTHA?
