Description

SUMMARY:

Rounds man is the front line of the refrigeration department. This person is required to walk the plant multiple times per day, recording temperatures and reporting back issues to the supervisors. Rounds man is also required to maintain all refrigeration equipment on a daily basis, ensuring the integrity of the plant.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Must have a High School Diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Prefer to have knowledge and skills in the technologies of Anhydrous Ammonia, electrical systems, electronic systems, microprocessors, and mechanical systems (e.g. production/process refrigeration boilers HVAC hydraulics and pneumatics)
  • Prefer to have Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety knowledge of PSM & OSHA safety regulations, and EPA regulations, USDA and sanitation standards preferred.
  • Basic PC skills including skills with MS Office and Outlook.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills – speaks and writes clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations. Listens for understanding.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – focuses on solving conflict, not blaming; Listens to others without interrupting; Keeps emotions under control; Remains open to others’ ideas and tries new things.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety files, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must effectively communicate with USDA, production, and management personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to use computers and all standard programs the industry uses, learn, and effectively use any other programs that are or will be made available.
  • May be required to be clean-shaven if trained in the use of and required to use a respirator.
  • Must be capable and willing to work any shift and be on 24-hour call for emergencies as necessary.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance work requests
  • Utilize maintenance systems as necessary to complete daily, weekly, monthly duties
  • Inspect and clean work areas using proper tools according to policy and procedure
  • Apply troubleshooting methods, replace parts and run tests to ensure the systems are working properly following repairs upgrade systems to satisfy new regulations or meet new standards
  • Responsible to conduct yourself in a manner consistent with Triumph Foods company mission, values, code of ethics policies, and other standards of conduct.
  • Confer with operators, observe test, and evaluate operation of machinery and equipment to diagnose cause of malfunctions.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance as required by PSM schedules.
  • Be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and examining refrigeration systems
  • Comply with Safety Programs.
  • Ensure use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to bump caps, safety glasses/goggles, face shields, earplugs, hair and beard nets, gloves and safety shoes or rubber boots.
  • Comply with all plant policies and the Occupational Safety and Health Rules (OSHA) while conducting refrigeration processes.
  • Comply with the EPA’s Risk Management Program Regulation of a hazardous Chemical facility (Process Safety Management, System Management, and Hazard Assessment, Emergency Response program, Risk Management Plans, Hazard Analysis, and Offsite Consequence strategies).
