Refrigeration Technician The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, and commissioning of refrigeration systems within custom industrial HVAC units. This role focuses exclusively on refrigeration piping, brazing quality, system cleanliness, pressure testing, evacuation, and charging. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional piping craftsmanship, strong refrigeration fundamentals, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. This position supports production schedules, upholds quality standards, and serves as a technical resource for refrigeration best practices. Job Duties: · Champions safety in the workplace and follows all refrigeration and brazing safety standards. · Installs refrigeration piping systems with a strong emphasis on cleanliness, routing, support, and workmanship. · Performs brazing operations independently, including proper joint preparation, purging, and inspection. · Conducts nitrogen purging during brazing without supervision. · Prepares and installs coils independently, ensuring correct orientation, protection, and cleanliness. · Installs pipe supports, clamps, and vibration isolation correctly and efficiently. · Connects refrigeration gauges and diagnostic equipment independently. · Performs pressure testing, leak detection, vacuum pulling, oil addition, and refrigerant charging without supervision. · Verifies refrigeration circuit integrity prior to system startup. · Troubleshoots refrigeration-related issues with minimal supervision. · Reads and interprets refrigeration piping diagrams, P&IDs, and blueprints accurately. · Ensures assigned units stay on schedule by completing refrigeration scope efficiently and correctly the first time. · Maintains a clean, organized work area to prevent contamination of refrigeration systems. · Assists other departments as needed while maintaining primary responsibility for refrigeration work. · Willingly supports production needs with a flexible, team-oriented mindset. · Performs all other duties as assigned. Requirements · Associate Degree in HVAC/R preferred; equivalent refrigeration experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. · 5+ years of refrigeration experience preferred. · EPA Certification required. · Strong understanding of refrigeration fundamentals and best practices. · Proven brazing and refrigeration piping experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. · Ability to read and interpret refrigeration piping diagrams and schematics. · Experience with pressure testing, evacuation, and refrigerant charging procedures. · Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality, cleanliness, and system reliability. · Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks effectively. · Strong verbal communication skills; written communication skills preferred. · Basic computer skills required; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred. · Ability to physically meet the following: · Stand continuously, 8+ hours · Kneel, crouch occasionally · Climb Ladder occasionally · Lift from floor to waist occasionally · Lift from waist to shoulder occasionally · Lift overhead occasionally · Lift 0 – 25lbs frequently · Lift 25 – 50lbs occasionally · Lift 50 – 75lbs occasionally
