Responsibilities
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong desire to learn and will immediately enter the Shift Refueling Engineer training and qualification pipeline.
  • This position is for the engineer that strongly prefers field-type engineering, spends most of their day out of the office, doing hands-on work; working directly with trades to service nuclear reactors – and would not be a good match for the engineer seeking a research and design, or calculational analysis engineering position.
  • Candidates for this position will qualify as a Navy Shift Refueling Engineer, where waterfront and shipboard shift work will be the normal, and will be responsible for direct engineering oversight and control of nuclear reactor servicing work within a highly industrial environment.
  • Upon qualification, Navy Shift Refueling Engineers will transfer from Mission Technologies to Newport News Shipbuilding.
