Description Description: The Refugee Support Services program assists refugees living in the United States for at least 90 days and up to five years. The RSS intern works with case managers to deliver services to clients who continue to face challenges while working to become self-sufficient. The program provides less intensive, but critical, support to clients Key responsibilities: Meet with clients to assess goals, progress, and needs Support case managers in tracking client progress and maintaining case notes Assist in administrative tasks, including data entry and document preparation Assist clients in understanding available benefits and programs Call utility companies, Access Health, the Department of Social Services, and other service providers on behalf of clients for benefit and payment renewals or setup Assist case managers with preparing documentation for permanent residency Educate and communicate with clients about financial responsibilities, including food, housing, and utility payments Coordinate with clients receiving donations and gift cards Duration and Schedule: This is an unpaid internship position requiring a commitment of 8-15 hours per week for a summer session between May and August. The schedule is flexible and can be tailored to accommodate the intern’s academic requirements. Qualifications: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Social Work, International Relations, Human Services, or a related field. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with diverse populations in a culturally sensitive manner. Detail-oriented with good organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred. Fluency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Dari, Pashto) is a plus.
