Description
Total Resourcing Ltd are looking for a CANDU Refurbishment specialist to fulfil the role of Engineering Superintendent (BOP/TG/Common). They will be providing engineering oversight for the Refurbishment Project, ensuring that all engineering, design, and implementation activities are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable standards and procedures. Main Duties, Tasks & ResponsibilitiesEngineering Oversight & Technical Assurance Support Heads of Services in evaluating and approving: Detailed technical solutions Technical specifications Implementation and testing plans (BOP, Turbine Generator, and common systems) Provide oversight and verification of complex implementation and testing plans for critical project activities Ensure design and refurbishment activities align with: Approved project schedule Budget constraints Quality Assurance (QA) processes Provide system-level design expertise and validate engineering documentation Ensure compliance with approved policies, standards, procedures, and programs Project Management Responsibilities Support the Operational Director in executing the overall project plan, with emphasis on Engineering Contribute to achieving on-time and on-budget project delivery Project Coordination & Interface Management Define and manage interfaces between discipline-specific design areas Ensure proper allocation of resources across all project phases Coordinate engineering support activities for project execution Ensure implementation of engineering governance and alignment Performance & People Management Set quarterly and annual performance targets for project staff Conduct periodic performance evaluations Provide mentoring, training, and leadership development Develop and implement individual development programs Identify and nurture future leaders and successors Assign responsibilities in line with approved job descriptions Manage staff timesheets and leave approvals Report any staff-related issues (performance, discipline, conduct) to management Contract & Compliance Management Work with Contract Management and Project Manager to ensure: Proper contract execution Resolution of contractual issues Validate completion of field work stages for payment release Ensure incorporation of occupational health and safety (OHS) principles Monitoring, Reporting & Control Ensure accuracy of contractor engineering reports (scope and schedule compliance) Contribute to project KPIs and performance tracking Monitor progress against scope, schedule, and budget Identify and address deviations Risk Management Identify risks impacting the owner and project delivery Ensure risk mitigation plans are implemented Align risk management with project and contractual requirements Essential Qualifications and Experience: A bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering 10 years relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with CANDU Nuclear Power Plants. In depth knowledge of site outage/installation/maintenance of CANDU Nuclear Power Plants Comprehensive understanding of CANDU technology and operations, with expertise in BOP, Turbo Generator, and Common systems. Demonstrated capability to manage and lead engineering and design organisations Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality products under tight timelines and high pressure to support unit restart schedules. Excellent problem-solving skills and experience in leading technical projects to successful completion. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality. Strong attention to detail and to quality assurance requirements. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team situation.
