Registered Environmental Health Specialist- Part Time   .Availability for on-call emergency response duty required.   Current salary range: As specified in related contract.   Must possess a valid New Jersey Driver’s License and an active Registered Environmental Health Specialist License issued by the NJ Department of Health.   Experience performing the duties incumbent upon a Registered Environmental Health Specialist in the enforcement of relevant sanitary, environmental, and public health laws, rules, and ordinances.   Education: Graduation from an accredited college, with a Bachelor’s Degree in the Biological, Physical, or Environmental Sciences, or Public Health.   Possession of a NJ Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor License/Permit.   NJ Department of Health-Recognized Retail Food Inspection Standardization preferred.   Experience with NJ Department of Health Communicable Disease Reporting and Surveillance System (CDRSS) preferred.   Job Summary: Under the direction of the Health Officer conducts inspections and investigations, in accordance with the provisions of the New Jersey State Sanitary Code, in such  areas as: facility plan reviews; retail food establishments; public recreational bathing facilities; tanning facilities; youth camps; body art facilities; public health nuisance complaint investigations; communicable disease control; kennels, pet shops, shelters, and pounds; preparing reports or other documentation which may be used as evidence in court/legal actions; assisting with community outreach activities; distribution of public health education materials; and teaching in areas of public health education, such as food safety classes.  Applicant must possess excellent writing and communication skills and will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems. 
Responsibilities
The specialist conducts inspections and investigations of various facilities to ensure compliance with the New Jersey State Sanitary Code. They also manage communicable disease control, prepare legal documentation, and provide public health education to the community.
