Description The Region EHS&S Manager is responsible for leading and supporting the implementation of environmental, health, safety, security, and sustainability (EHS&S) programs across regional operations or business units. Reporting directly to the Chief Safety Officer (CSO), this role ensures operational excellence by aligning safety programs with business goals and driving continuous improvement across facilities and field operations. This position will focus on proactive risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, operational integration, and fostering a culture of safety and accountability in alignment with corporate objectives. Key Responsibilities Operational EHS&S Leadership Support the Chief Safety Officer in executing the company’s strategic safety vision at the regional level. Implement standardized EHS&S practices across regional operations, ensuring consistency with corporate policies. May develop standards. Act as a subject matter expert to regional leadership and operational teams on EHS&S matters. Translate company-wide safety goals into actionable initiatives within the region. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, provincial, and local EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT, EPA, FMCSA). Conduct regular audits and inspections to evaluate compliance and address gaps. Maintain current knowledge of regulatory changes and proactively adjust policies and practices as needed. Risk Management & Incident Prevention Identify and evaluate EHS&S risks associated with regional operations, projects, and fleet activities. Develop and implement corrective and preventive measures to address hazards and reduce incidents. Conduct root cause analysis of incidents, track corrective actions, and support implementation. Safety Culture & Employee Engagement Promote a safety-first culture by actively engaging employees at all levels. Coordinate and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns. Champion behavior-based safety and drive employee involvement in hazard identification and mitigation. Health, Environmental, and Sustainability Integration Collaborate with regional teams to ensure safe and environmentally responsible operations. Support waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainability initiatives at site and regional levels. Provide oversight for wellness programs and ergonomic safety evaluations. Business Support & Collaboration Partner closely with operations, logistics, and facility management teams to align safety programs with business needs. Support new business initiatives, projects, and expansions with EHS&S planning and assessments. Serve as a key regional contact during emergency situations and regulatory inspections. Reporting & Continuous Improvement Track and report key EHS&S metrics for regional operations. Analyze trends and provide insights to improve safety performance and reduce incidents. Identify and implement best practices across the region. Requirements Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or related field. Minimum 8–10 years of progressive EHS&S experience, preferably in industrial, chemical, logistics, or fleet-intensive environments. Strong working knowledge of regulatory requirements including OSHA, DOT, EPA, and FMCSA. Experience with EHS auditing, risk assessment, and incident investigation. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally. Willingness to travel regionally (~30%). Preferred Qualifications Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant certifications (CDS, CCSP, etc.). Experience with Responsible Care or similar management systems. Fleet safety or transportation safety experience is a plus.
