Region Environment & Compliance Manager

The Region Environmental Compliance Manager will be responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all aspects of environmental compliance for multiple sites within Valicor’s growing Midwest region. Responsibilities include the day-to-day management of the company’s environmental program at facilities within your assigned region. This position will report to the Director of Environmental Compliance.
Basic Duties & Responsibilities

Compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Secure and maintain company certifications and registrations as it relates to centralized wastewater treatment, used oil, and fleet assets.
  • Review and approve acceptable wastewater profiles of customer waste streams for disposal at the facility.
  • Renewal of required permits for facility discharge, selected fleet, and city/county/state hauling and disposal.
  • Manage and lead all aspects of necessary employee RCRA training as well as facility specific emergency action plan and compliance training.
  • Track and file updates to all regulatory operating permits and plans (RCRA, CWT, Air, EPCRA)
  • Conduct facility inspections to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Manage all aspects of incident reporting, investigating, and follow up to company leadership and appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Manage the process for Industrial Discharge sampling events in coordination with facility management. Direct and train on proper sampling techniques, paperwork, scheduling, and analysis and follow up on the reporting.
  • Work with third party vendors in relation to onsite visits and environmental audits.
  • Detailed involvement in all hazardous waste and used oil regulatory issues.
  • Manage and direct the audit process. This includes audits performed by regulatory agencies, customers, insurance carriers, and internal personnel.
  • Any other special projects as assigned (i.e. permit renewals or obtaining new permits to support business growth)

Basic Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required, plus a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in environmental compliance, including a management position within the environmental field; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.

  • Working knowledge and progressive experience in 40 CFR Part 437 Centralized Waste Treatment regulations; 40 CFR Part 279 Used Oil regulations; Air permitting regulations; Local and State Solid Waste Regulations; and other RCRA regulations as it relates to your assigned region.
  • Strong ability to manage project scope, schedule, budget, communication, and administration.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.
  • Must be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Must possess strong communications skills – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively, in order to be able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to travel a minimum of 40%.
