Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Regional Clinical Educator to join the Medical Imaging and Speciality Radiology Technology team at Vancouver General Hospital. Apply today to join our team!

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (CAMRT) or other recognized registration body.
  • Completion of an approved accredited diploma program in Medical Radiation Technology in the designated medical imaging modality.
  • Five (5) years’ recent related medical imaging experience in the designated medical imaging modality (i.e. Interventional Radiology, Fluoroscopy, General Procedures, CT and/or Mammography) including one (1) year recent experience in a supervisory and/or teaching role supplemented with successful completion of recognized clinical education/instruction courses, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current CPR Level C Certification.
  • Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle for business-related purposes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and practice of area of expertise for procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aseptic techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work procedures with imaging equipment and radiation safety principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop education and training materials, assignments, examinations, and competency assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate, train, orient, assess, mentor, and coach staff and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and deal effectively with clients and their families, students, coworkers, physicians, other health care staff, and staff of external agencies.

  • Demonstrated ability to review and apply research methodology to practice.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including practice of safe work procedures with modality equipment.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma) within a healthcare system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/Radiology Information Systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in resolution of conflict issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate related equipment including applicable software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
    Closing Statement:
    This posting is for an MRT with recent experience in Interventional Radiology and Fluoroscopy. Preference will be given to candidates who have successfully completed a CAMRT certificate in the IR (CIR) program or American Association Interventional Radiography program and have recent experience in medical imaging interventional radiology.
    The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
    As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
