Overview Milton Rents is seeking a skilled and motivated Regional Controller to join our New York team. This hands-on leadership role oversees all aspects of general accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong financial controls. As a growing, privately held, multi-state organization, Milton Rents offers a dynamic, high-volume environment with significant opportunities to contribute to operational excellence and continued business expansion. Pay: $85,000 - $115,000. This is a salaried position and is bonus eligible. Benefits include: Paid Time Off + 8 company paid holidays Medical, Dental and Vision insurance options for Employee and Family Disability & Life Insurance Packages Competitive Retirement Plan Tuition Reimbursement – available to FT employees with 1 year+ of service Employee Assistance program (EAP) Additional supplemental offerings and discount programs Employee Referral Program Responsibilities Manage and direct all aspects of the general accounting function and ensure accuracy and timeliness of all data relating to general ledger transactions, bank reconciliations, receivables, and payables. Ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Provide direct supervision for the accounting staff, inclusive of all performance management and hiring activities. Ensure proper revenue and expense matching. Prepare the monthly management financial reporting package, forecasts, and annual financial statements as required. Manage the treasury function including cash forecasting, debt management and payment approvals. Assist with the coordination and management of the audit process with external auditors. Oversee preparation and submittal of monthly, quarterly, annual state sales tax returns with payments as required. Prepare and submit various federal, state, and local regulatory reporting as required. Proactively identify and propose process improvements. Provide ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required. Generate and distribute reports regarding fleet, sales etc. Highway Use and IFTA tax filing Investigate and resolve customer billing inquiries and disputes Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate accounting with proven success in a management role. Excellent working knowledge of accounting policies and procedures is required. Excellent analytical, communication, decision making and time management skills along with a willingness to roll up your sleeves are required for success in this role. Experience with financial and accounting software systems. Advanced user of Microsoft Office tools. Ability to work on-site at our Rochester, NY office and also be able to travel between other NY locations as needed. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
