How you make a difference:
The Regional Director of Nursing (RDON) is a highly skilled and experienced Registered Professional Nurse with advanced studies and expertise in Nursing Services administration. As an RDON, they are responsible for structuring, planning, and implementing the Nursing Service Program within assigned regions, ensuring that all activities are compliant with American Correctional Association (ACA), National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC), and State accreditation standards. The RDON’s authority, responsibility, and accountability ensure that the nursing program’s goals, objectives, policies, and procedures align with those of the company and the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee planning, policy development, and patient care evaluation to ensure compliance with ACA, NCCHC, and State standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to nursing staff in their region, including coordinating training and education opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison between nursing services, other healthcare providers, and the Regional Manager and Medical Director.
  • Monitor and report on nursing incidents and communicable diseases, and assess policies and procedures as needed.
  • Assist the Medical Director in developing nursing guidelines and manuals for the region.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Must be graduated from an accredited School of Nursing.

Experience

  • Emergency Room, communicable disease, with medical and surgical experience preferred.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience in an acute setting recommended.
  • Experience in delivery and administration of correctional nursing services preferred.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Must have and maintain current licensure as a registered nurse within the state as well as CPR certification.
