GFL Environmental is looking for a Regional Environmental Health and Safety Advisor to join our dynamic team in Abbotsford, BC.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Exceptional communication and time management skills
  • Knowledge of BC-specific health and safety legislation
  • Knowledge of National Safety Code
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety
  • CRSP, CSO or MSO designation preferred
  • Self-starter with a strong ability to work independently across diverse sites

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct onsite inspections and internal audits throughout BC to evaluate safe work practices
  • Perform internal audits of work practices and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • Support external audits and promote compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Collaborate with regional teams to maintain high safety standards and excellence across all locations
  • Lead and assist investigations, reporting, and corrective action planning for incidents across the province
  • Deliver safety training and new employee orientations at various sites as required.
  • Act as a liaison between the Regional EHS team and operations throughout BC
  • Provide guidance on occupational injury management and return-to-work programs across multiple regions with the support of the Regional EHS Manager.
  • Support monthly safety communications and provincial safety campaigns
  • Travel regularly to support location across BC.
  • Ensure record keeping for regional EHS statistics and trending.
  • Support NSC compliance and functions as required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management.
