EDUCATIONAL AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of Building Code, Fire Code and CSA Guidelines as applied to Health Care
  • Minimum 5 years of Management Experience in building operations in a health care setting
  • Clear pattern of Personal and Professional Development
  • Technical Diploma (Certified Technician or Certified Engineering Technologist) with emphasis on mechanical systems

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Five years’ experience in building maintenance
  • Experience working with mechanical and building systems and servicing including installation and design
  • Experience in management/leadership of complex maintenance projects
  • Experience working with contractors, architects, and engineers, building codes, design guidelines and drawings

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
  • Superior communication, problem solving, and decision making skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of all care homes/programs and relevant occupational health and safety legislation, building code requirements, and fire code requirements
  • Able to read and understand building plans including integration of architectural, mechanical, electrical, and structural components
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal effectively with conflict in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Competent computer skills in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Project) and email and internet
  • Exhibit an open and sincere approach by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally
  • Maintain an individual’s dignity and self-worth during conversations
  • Demonstrate flexibility by changing routine to accommodate client/resident needs
  • Ability to travel as the demand requires

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
  • A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
