Regional Major Gifts Officer (East Coast) Department: Global Engagement & Partnerships Reports to: Senior Director of Development Full-Time Salaried Exempt Location: Hybrid/Remote, with preference for candidates based in or near Atlanta, GA to leverage connections with the corporate office for enhanced support in development and donor base growth. Experience working in Atlanta, New York, Washington DC, or Florida is required. Position Summary: The Regional Major Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals to secure major gifts ($10,000+) in support of Kids Alive International's mission and strategic priorities. This role plays a crucial part in building and maintaining relationships with donors capable of making significant contributions. The officer will start with a provided portfolio of current donors but must actively focus on new donor acquisition, prospect identification, and portfolio growth to bring in new revenue while effectively stewarding existing relationships. Performance will be measured by revenue generated and sustained, consistent with key performance indicators, including metrics for donor meetings, solicitations, events, and inflows. Essential Duties: Portfolio Management: Manage an assigned portfolio of current and prospective major donors, ensuring a deep understanding of each donor's interests, motivations, and giving capacity. Actively grow the portfolio through aggressive prospecting, referrals from existing donors, and strategic research to identify and incorporate new high-net-worth individuals. Regularly assess and update donor profiles, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information. Ensure timely entry of all relevant donor interactions (e.g., phone calls, emails, meetings, events) into the CRM system. Cultivation and Solicitation: Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors for major gifts, with a strong emphasis on acquiring new donors to expand the organization's funding base. Build strong, meaningful relationships with high-net-worth individuals through regular communication, personalized in-person or virtual meetings, and targeted events. Develop and execute individualized solicitation strategies, working closely with senior leadership and stakeholders to align Present compelling cases for support that align with Kids Alive International's mission, values, and priorities. Plan, lead, and participate in vision trips for major donors to program sites, aiming to convert participants into new or increased givers. Coordinate community gatherings in collaboration with donors and the development team, including donor appreciation events, to introduce prospects and foster engagement. Conduct a high volume of qualified donor/prospect meetings (in-person, virtual, or video) weekly, accounting for personal time off to meet quarterly targets. Achieve documented solicitations for active donors, prioritizing face-to-face or virtual methods where appropriate, with alternatives noted in records. Re-engage lapsed donors through targeted outreach to reactivate contributions. Stewardship Ensure proper acknowledgment and recognition of major donors, including personalized thank-you letters and inclusion in relevant publications. Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement stewardship plans that engage donors and demonstrate the impact of their contributions. Prospect Research: Partner with research staff to identify and evaluate potential high-net-worth donors, expanding the portfolio and strengthening fundraising efforts. Provide strategic recommendations on adding new prospects or removing others based on giving capacity and affinity. Leverage relationships with existing donors to secure referrals for new prospects. Collaboration and Reporting: Work with development team members, program staff, and senior leadership to align fundraising with organizational goals. Provide regular updates on progress, performance metrics (including inflows from renewals, upgrades, new gifts, and total portfolio revenue), and activities. Actively participate in fundraising campaigns and initiatives. Travel and Onboarding: Engage in intentional travel to Kids Alive International's program locations in the Kenya, Guatemala, Haiti, Lebanon, Peru, and/or Zambia with donors to see the work firsthand on either Vision Trips or GoTeams. Complete onboarding training, including required travel to Guatemala within the first three months of employment. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Education & Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree or relevant certification preferred. 7+ years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations, with a proven track record of securing major gifts from high-net-worth individuals. Demonstrated experience working in Atlanta, New York, Washington DC, or Florida required. Skills & Knowledge Required: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, donor database systems, and other collaborative tools. High self-motivation and personal accountability. Impeccable verbal and written communication skills. Ability to intuitively anticipate team needs and plan appropriate responses. High emotional intelligence, cross-cultural communication skills, and interpersonal awareness. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Willingness and ability to learn new technology related to the role. High level of personal and professional integrity, including the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding donor profiles and personal information.
