JOB SUMMARY
The Office of Ombudsman for Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities is charged under M.S. 245.91–245.97 with “promoting the highest attainable standards of treatment, competence, efficiency, and justice for people receiving services for mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use disorder, and emotional disturbance.” This position provides supervisory and program leadership for the regional staff representing the OMHDD, so the agency’s goals, policies, procedures, and protocol are efficiently and effectively followed; client advocacy services are provided consistent with the statutory mission, program and project activities are managed and completed as agreed-upon; and lines of communication remain open within the agency. This position will also involve participation in special projects, work groups, task forces, special cases, and investigations. This position additionally provides agency leadership and coordination for all Civil Commitment Training and Resource Center activities.
Overall Responsibilities include:
This position is eligible for a hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework arrangement, onsite attendance will be required for team members or as requested by management to meet business needs. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. Please review the Telework Policy for details.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, Nursing, Legal Studies/Law, Human Services, Hospital Administration, Public Health, Public Administration, Public Policy, or closely related field.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Incumbent must maintain valid driver’s license, and insurance, OR have other reliable transportation.
