Regional Payroll Lead, Europe and APAC
Location: Poland or in any continental European country where AXA XL has a branch.
In this role, reporting to the Head of Reward & HR Operations, Europe & APAC you will be part of the Regional Reward & HR Operations team to oversee payroll management & administration for the Region with a strong focus on process standardization and Governance.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Strategy & Governance

o Ensures that the regional payroll practices and processes align with the global strategy and standards set by the Global Head of Payroll whilst identifying enhancements or configuration changes to accommodate local requirements.
o In collaboration with the Global Head of Payroll and third parties as appropriate the Regional payroll lead will be required to monitor legislation updates, track compliance status in real-time, and initiate the implementation of changes to systems and processes as appropriate

o Will be a part of Governance Board and adhere to agreed SLAs (Appendix B)

  • Payroll Management & Administration

o They will lead and manage any payroll resources within their area of responsibility, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. Ensure members of their team are adequately resourced and trained to handle payroll demands with their region.
o Working with Payroll Managers, ensure that payroll processes adhere to local tax laws, labor regulations, social security contributions, and other statutory requirements.
o Maintain an awareness of local legislation and implementing necessary adjustments in payroll processes as appropriate.
o Identify and support the imparting of regulatory knowledge to the Payroll Managers (may require external training)
o May also adopt Payroll Manager role for some countries

o Provide support for the administration of complex benefits including Share Plan.

  • Policy and Process Standardisation

o Implement global payroll policies, procedures, and standards. Work with global teams to standardise payroll processes
o Participate in vendor performance reviews and provide feedback and inputs with respect to the countries within their scope of responsibility.

o Ensure that regional and local practices are in compliance with these global standards while allowing for necessary local adaptations.

  • Partner with our Shared Service Centre, HR colleagues, other internal stakeholders, vendors and benefit brokers to ensure the smooth delivery of payroll and related services.
  • Provide best in class service to all stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Support initiatives and projects within AXA XL Globally as a member of our Centers of Expertise Reward & Operations teams.
  • Provide support and cover for other payroll managers across the Region as required.

  • Relevant global senior payroll manager experience
  • Should have supported end to end payroll processing
  • Experience working in a global environment required
  • Team leadership experience highly desired
  • Ability to work closely with stakeholders and to build collaborative relationships in a matrix organisation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and interact through interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization, including with Senior HR and Business Leaders.
  • Analytical skills. Use data to make informed decisions and consider the broader implications. Work through ambiguity to adapt quickly and creatively.
  • Not afraid to challenge the status quo to simplify processes.
  • Organization skills, with capacity to adapt to urgencies and priorities.
  • Perfect English writing and speaking skills.
