We design, distribute, and manage insurance plans and assistance services for individuals and businesses worldwide. With teams operating across Asia, Europe, and the Americas, we are committed to ensuring our members have access to the best care, wherever they are.
As part of the APRIL Group, an insurance specialist with 3,000 staff members in 20 countries, we are dedicated to simplifying insurance and delivering exceptional customer experiences.
We are seeking a strategic and actuarially strong Head of Pricing & Underwriting to lead our technical function in Asia and the Middle East.
You will oversee pricing, group underwriting, and data, ensuring the delivery of accurate, sustainable, and profitable solutions. You will drive actuarial rigour, manage a multi-country technical team, and serve as a key partner to Product, Sales, and Insurers.
This is a high-impact position for a technical leader who can combine actuarial depth with commercial awareness, supporting growth while ensuring long-term portfolio sustainability.

Your key responsibilities will be the following:

  • Lead and develop the regional technical team (pricing, product pricing, data), setting priorities and driving excellence.
  • Oversee tailored quotes (group underwriting), ensuring quality, competitiveness, and responsiveness.
  • Strengthen actuarial rigour in product pricing, models, assumptions, and portfolio reviews.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, medical inflation, and claims trends; propose proactive adjustments.
  • Drive automation, dashboards, and quality initiatives with the Data team to support decision-making.
  • Negotiate with insurers on pricing, plan design, and portfolio adjustments, balancing technical outcomes with business goals.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, and Operations to ensure alignment and delivery of strategic objectives.
  • Promote innovation in modelling, tools, and methodologies to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Coach team members to raise actuarial and analytical standards across all technical areas.

Skills and Competencies required :

  • Strong actuarial background in health insurance pricing, underwriting, or portfolio management.
  • Proven leadership experience, ideally across multiple markets or regional scope.
  • Advanced modelling and analytical skills; proficiency in actuarial/statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Commercial acumen with insurer negotiation experience.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance technical rigour and business objectives.
