REGIONAL SAFETY MANAGER

McMillen is seeking a Regional Safety Manager with strong Infrastructure and Heavy Civil experience to join our growing construction division. The Regional Safety Manager will oversee project-specific safety plans and performance on multiple complex construction projects and support corporate safety initiatives and programs. Applicants should be detail-oriented problem solvers with good interpersonal skills, and a strong working knowledge of OSHA and USACE safety standards. Key attributes of preferred candidates include understanding safe work practices for crane lifting and rigging operations, fall protection, confined space entry, structural concrete work, and working on/over water.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience and success as a safety officer, site safety manager, or equivalent role in the heavy civil construction industry


    • 1-year of experience may be substituted with a Nationally recognized Occupational Safety and Health certificate, e.g. CHST, STS, etc.

    • OSHA 30-Hour Construction
    • Minimum of 24 hours of documented training/continuing education within the last 5 years.
    • Ability to solve problems and implement solutions in challenging work environments
    • Strong understanding of the safety and health regulations of heavy civil construction
    • Detail oriented and strong time management skills.
    • Proficient with technology and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams) with the ability to effectively learn and adapt to new software and applications.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate ideas, solutions, needs, and requirements to all levels of employees and stakeholders.
    • CHST certification, preferred
    • Willingness and ability to travel by plane or vehicle to various project locations (approximately 70%)
    • Reside in or be willing to relocate within 1 hour of our Dallas, TX or Boise, ID office.

    Responsibilities
    • Provide safety and health oversight for multiple projects to ensure safety and health policies and procedures are adhered to in accordance with OSHA, USACE, and other authorities having jurisdiction.
    • Provide mentoring, direction, and subject matter expertise to project management and personnel.
    • Deliver training and manage training requirements for project teams.
    • Assist operations and project management in the development of site-specific safety plans, AHA’s, and project-specific safe work practices.
    • Facilitate the implementation of company safety initiatives, campaigns, and assignments.
    • Oversee incident investigations and ensure accurate and thorough documentation in accordance with company and project requirements.
    • Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders and representatives of authorities having jurisdiction.
    • Maintain good working relationships with safety and project management, site-safety representatives, subcontractors, and clients.
    • Conduct hazard assessments and inspections, documenting findings and corrective actions.
