Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria’s courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.
Collectively, Victoria’s Supreme, County, Magistrates’, Children’s, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group’.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Regional Service and Support Manager will manage resources for hearing and customer service operations at all regionally based VCAT sites and other suitable locations where VCAT hears matters. The role maintains oversight of staff travel to rural and regional areas and serves as an escalation point for complex issues requiring resolution prior to or during hearings.

In this role, you will:

  • provide management support, training and professional development to Regional Hearing and Service Support Officers
  • proactively support the Regional Services Operations and Strategy Manager in securing venues, such as the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria (MCV), for VCAT sittings across Victoria
  • oversee the day-to-day rostering of people resources and coordination of VCAT sittings at regionally based venues across Victoria
  • monitor the Regional Services communications for urgent updates and coordination of interpreter and additional security support
  • coordinate with the Listings Manager to optimise external facility usage for each roster period in line with demand for service, availability of venues, agreed patters and resourcing constraints
  • build and maintain strong relationships with key VCAT interal stakeholders and external stakeholders
  • assist in the implementation of business initiatives and undertake project activities under the guidance of the Regional Services Operations and Strategy Manager
  • provide relief at any VCAT venue or CBV as directed and undertake associated tasks including the maintenance of accurate case management systems and operation of hearing and digital recording technologies
  • coordinate emergency management/preparedness functions and training
  • exercise delegated functions subject to the direction of the Principal Registrar

The preferred candidate will be able to demonstrate their experience in leadership and people management roles in a front-line service delivery environment. They will also:

  • have the ability to apply and provide advice on complex legislation relating to the jurisdictions of VCAT
  • demonstrate experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • showcase their ability to analyse situations and take considered remedial action to address operational issues
  • have strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrating the ability to maintain lines of communication with key stakeholder
