Job objectives and responsibilities

To manage and support the regional delivery of small construction works activities across LBG UK sites. Manage and co-ordinate internal and external delivery teams and supply chain members. Work collaboratively with internal colleagues and client team members with support from LBG SLT team members.

  • Responsible for the managing the successful initiation, scoping, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of small works via a team of PM’s
  • Work closely with PMO to ensure project reports are current and up to date
  • To manage and lead small works function, liaising with the Senior Management team, client representatives, sub-contractors and other trades, co-ordinating all aspects of the works so that the projects are completed in line with the requirements, within budget and on time.
  • Lead safety/CDM compliance, ensuring that all works are completed in compliance with relevant legislation and site safety standards
  • Ensure that supply chain members are approved by Mitie/LBG and deliver all works safely in accordance with Site SSoW, on-time and to budget
  • Ensuring the relevant programme risks are identified and managed/mitigated as appropriate. This includes regular monitoring of the residual risks.
  • Have a commercial understanding of the contract, ensuring that quotes are submitted in accordance with relevant terms and conditions, within agreed timescales and that applications for payments are submitted on time.

Main duties

  • To interpret client requirements and assist client in producing scope and specification documents for works
  • Ensuring that we, produce quotations (including sub-contractor costs)for submission to clients
  • Ensure robust work programmes are developed for all programmes, all works are scheduled correctly and ensure delivery on time
  • Monitor resources requirement and forward plan requirements.
  • Ensure that we comply with Mitie standards, RAMs are prepared in a timely manner and are of suitable and sufficient quality. Permits to work and all other SSoW documentation are present also ensuring adherence to Mitie Health and Safety Policy
  • To carry out workplace safety inspections and manage Pre work brief, reporting incidents and recording of near misses
  • Manage and implement handover process and ensure handover documentation is supplied to client
  • Day to day liaison with client representatives and Mitie Senior Management/site management teams
  • Recording and managing project issues and escalating where necessary.
  • Managing project scope and change control, submitting variations as required
  • Monitor & Report project progress and performance

Person Specification

  • Experience in delivery of Construction small works activities – Painting, decorating, joinery, flooring, Roofing etc.
  • Pro-active good at planning ahead as far as possible as the project progresses, checking back to plans/programmes regularly
  • Strong sense of achievement; able to drive projects forward, expects good standards of work and able to overcome barriers/ solve problems.
  • Organised, good at time management and prioritisation of work
  • Experienced in the control and supervision of sub-contractors
  • Knowledge and understanding of the CDM regulations
  • CITB Level 3 Safety Course SMSTS (5 day)
  • IOSH managing safely (Construction) or NEBOSH
  • Experienced in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Appropriate CSCS card (Desirable)
  • First Aid at Work (4 day) (Desirable)

Health and Safety responsibilities

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment.
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system.
